New Lodge Vineyard

New Lodge Vineyard

New Lodge Vineyard was created  by Joyce Boulos-Hanna in 2000, before planting a vineyard became as fashionable as it is today.  She was ahead of her time, and an inspiration to those that follow in her footsteps.

This small boutique vineyard is situated on the outskirts of  Earls Barton, on a picturesque, southwest facing slope, overlooking the Nene Valley.  Its location is very near to one of the oldest recorded vineyards of Roman times.  It was established on horse paddocks, providing a lushfertile land of crumbly well drained loam over ironstone and planted with six red and white grape varieties.

The vines are trellis-trained using the traditional ‘Double Guyot’ system, with each and every vine, tended by hand, with love and passion all year round.  The grapes are harvested in October and vinified over the following months and years to produce dry still whites, rosé, medium bodied reds, and both pink and white sparkling wines.

Over recent years the ‘Earls Baron’ name has gained tremendous recognition and the vineyard continues to enjoy success with awards year in, year out:  over 45 of them now, if anyone's counting!

“Awards aside, viticulture is our passion. For us, it's a way of life and about sharing the English Wine Experience.”  Joyce Boulos-Hanna 1932 - 2023
